My Story
As a highly competitive 10-year-old walking into a local church basement for my first fencing class, I had already decided that this was the sport that would take me to the Olympics. Before even touching a foil, I told my friends that I was going to make my Olympic dream a reality. Twenty years later, as a three-time Olympian and Canada’s first fencing Olympic medalist at Paris 2024, I continue to dedicate myself every day to being the best fencer I can be.
I was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, and got my athletic start in running and karate before choosing to focus on fencing. I started competing internationally at 14 and won multiple European Cadet Circuit and Junior World Cup medals. My efforts culminated in back-to-back silver medals at the Junior World Championships in 2013 and 2014—the first time a Canadian women’s foilist had ever achieved this. In 2015, I qualified for the Pan Am Games and helped secure a gold medal in the team event on home soil. At the 2019 and 2023 Pan Am Games, I went on to win medals in both the individual and team events.
In 2018, I became the first Canadian foilist to win a Senior World Cup/Grand Prix medal, and since then, I have earned seven individual medals at this level. Now ranked #4 in the world, I am determined to help lead Canada to its first team World Cup foil medal in the coming seasons. Coming off my Olympic medal performance, I’m thrilled to have already secured two back-to-back World Cup podium finishes.
My passion for fencing has only grown over the years. I bring gritty resilience to competition and a deep curiosity to the mental, physical, and emotional facets of training. I am excited to be at a point in my career where I can share my love for the sport through coaching, speaking engagements, and partnerships that align with my values. Looking ahead, I am focused on competing at my fourth Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.
